Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Dr. Enrico Rukzio joined the University of Duisburg-Essen in June 2010 and started the Mobile HCI research group which is largely funded by the Emmy Noether - Programme. He is furthermore a part-time lecturer in the Embedded Interactive Systems group at Lancaster University (personal homepage). Prior to coming to Essen, he worked full time as a RCUK academic fellow and lecturer from 2006 to 2010 in Lancaster. He received his doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) from University of Munich in 2007. He worked as a research associate and PhD student in the Embedded Interaction (former personal homepage) and the Media Informatics group (former personal homepage) at the University of Munich between 2004 and 2006. He worked as a research associate in the Heinz-Nixdorf Endowed Chair for Multimedia Technology (former personal homepage) at the Technical University of Dresden from 2002 till 2004. Before that, he completed his MSc (German: Diplom) in Computer Science at the Technical University of Dresden. Prof. Dr. Enrico Rukzio has published over 60 internationally peer-reviewed publications including conference (e.g. at CHI, UIST, Ubicomp or Mobile HCI), journal (e.g. IEEE Pervasive Computing) and workshop papers (e.g. WMCSA) and holds 2 patents. He was PC Co-Chair of MUM 2010 und Tutorial Co-Chair of Mobile HCI 2009 & 2010. Enrico is an associate editor of the Journal of Personal and Ubiquitous Computing and was guest editor for the Journal of Personal and Ubiquitous Computing and the International Journal of Mobile Human Computer Interaction. His research and supervision has been funded by the DFG, EU, DOCOMO Euro-Labs, EPSRC, Nokia and NWDA.

Fields of Research

My research focuses on the investigation of novel interaction techniques, applications and services which support the interaction between mobile devices and pervasive user interfaces. This includes especially the interaction with horizontal and vertical displays, personal projectors and projected user interfaces. Information about my publications and projects can be found at:
